Rotem Eylam is a composer, guitarist, and improviser from Israel, currently based in Zürich. He is pursuing a master’s degree in composition at the Zürich University of the Arts studying with Isabel Mundry and Burkhard Kinzler. Before that, he studied at t he New England Conservatory in Boston, earning his bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar with Joe Morris, and also studying composition with Stratis Minakakis, after completing a diploma at The Center for Jazz Studies in Tel Aviv.

Rotem has performed as a guitarist in Amdor’s Group, touring in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland, and served as a faculty member at the LUPA Festival, lecturing on free improvisation, composition, and the electric guitar. As an active figure in the improvised music scene, he has led masterclasses on free improvisation at Berklee College of Music alongside Tony Malaby. He has performed in numerous venues dedicated to free improvisation across the USA and Europe, including Bushwick Public House and th e Downtown Music Gallery in New York, Rhizome in DC, Never Ending Books in New Haven, and Raum236 in Zürich.

As a composer, his music has been performed by ensembles such as Mivos Quartet, Divertimento Ensemble, Neue Vokalsolisten, IEMA (Ensemble Modern Akademie), Gerald Preinfalk (Klangforum Wien), and Collegium Novum Zürich.
