In a string of energetic impulses and contemplative crashes, QUICKSAND navigates unknown genres and musical gooThis international quintet, born in Bern, grounds itself in the foundations of jazz while reaching outward into folk, classical, dance, electronic, and avantgarde practices. Led by João, QUICKSAND’s music wrestles with ideas of freedom and constraint, asking whether we’re truly free or simply stuck in quicksand, unable to change our fate as we struggle. It offers, however, a hopeful vision.
