Phelan Burgoyne Trio (UK)

Patient and cinematic

“Patient and cinematic. The trio are really sitting in a beautiful space that is vast and full of colour” – Larry Grenadier (Brad Mehldau Trio, Paul Motian Band)

“ Burgoyne is a remarkably thoughtful and highly perceptive musician.” – All About Jazz (Duncan Heining)

“A remarkably mature statement“ – Jeff Williams (Dave Liebman)

Featuring British Jazz legend saxophonist Martin Speake and rising star guitarist Rob Luft, the Phelan Burgoyne trio is a London based improvising unit with a unique sound. Performing mostly Burgoyne’s evocative compositions along with pieces from late great drummer Paul Motian’s songbook, the trio have developed a language of slowly evolving sonic landscapes, rhapsodic melodies and visceral grooves. In 2016 they released their debut album “Unquiet Quiet” at London’s renowned Vortex to critical acclaim.
